As a daughter, she has no secrets from her mother, who is very pleased with her. But recently she has become somewhat mysterious, not so open as before: what if she falls in love, which is too early for a girl of her age. After all, she is reaching the “dangerous stage”. These thoughts have caused trouble in the mother’s mind. One weekend the girl came to tell her mother that she was going to the cinema with her schoolmates and would return late. This was the first time her mother had agreed, and she couldn’t help worrying because her daughter had never been away at night before. The mother waited till nine and her uneasiness(不安) got the upper hand over her. She decided to go out to meet her daughter. Just at that moment the noise of a car pulling up drew her to the window and ---there was her daughter, waving goodbye to a boy. Her heart missed a beat. When the girl came in, the mother was watching TV, pretending nothing had happened. “Mum, I’m back.” “Yeah.” “Sorry to be late. Still sitting up?” “Yes, Oh, that… Who’s that boy?” The daughter was stunned (发愣) for a moment. “Ah. It’s my monitor. He gave me a lift on his way home. Mum, I’m going to bed” “All right. Go to sleep early.” Next morning, when the mother went to the daughter’s room to do some tidying, she found her diary left at her pillow. After a few minutes’ hesitation she finally opened it to the entry of the night before. It read: Mum, it was love that made you ask, but it would show your understanding of me if you hadn’t. Holding the diary, the mother fell in thought. 56. Which of the following is TRUE according to the story? A. The girl knew her mother would ask her the questions about the boy. B. A. care about what their children really think and how they feel B. not give much freedom to their children. C. Talk with their children about their early love. D. Keep silent about their children’s privacy 59. Which can be the best title for this story? A. Mother’s True Love B. Early Love Between Students C. To Ask or Not to Ask D. Dangerous Age B If there is one thing I'm sure about, it is that in a hundred years from now we will still be reading newspapers. It is not that newspapers are a necessity. Even now some people get most of their news from television or radio. Many buy a paper only on Saturday or Sunday. But for most people reading a newspaper has become a habit passed down from generation to generation. The nature of what is news may change. What basically makes news is what affects our lives --- the big political stories, the coverage of the wars, earthquakes and other disasters, will continue much the same. I think there will be more coverage of scientific research, though. It’s already happening in areas that may directly affect our lives, like genetic engineering. In the future, I think there will be more coverage of scientific explanations of why we feel as we do --- as we develop a better understanding of how the brain operates and what our feelings really are. It’s quite possible that in the next century newspapers will be transmitted(传送)electronically from Fleet Street and printed out in our own home. In fact, I’m pretty sure that how it will happen in the future. You will probably be able to choose from a menu;making up your own newspaper by picking out the things you want to read --- sports and international news, etc. I think people have got it wrong when they talk about competition between the different media. They actually feed off each other. Some people once foresaw that television would kill off newspapers, but that hasn’t happened. What is read on the printed page lasts longer than pictures:on a screen or sound lost in the air. And as for the Internet, it’s never really pleasant to read something just on a screen. 60. What is the best title for the passage?_____. A. The Best Way to Get News B. The Changes of Media C. Make Your Own Newspaper D. The Future of Newspapers 61. In the writer’s opinion, in the future,_____. A. more big political affairs, wars and disasters will make news B. newspapers will not be printed in publishing houses any longer C. newspapers will cover more scientific research D. more and more people will watch TV 62. From the passage, we can infer _____. A. newspapers will win the competition among the different media B. newspapers will stay with us together with other media C. television will take the place of newspaper D. the writer believe some media will die out 63. The phrase “feed off” in the last paragraph means ______. A. depend on B. compete with C. fight with D. kill off C ◇ Share Flats Happy Valley big flat, 1 room ready for use immediately. The 60-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital after firefighters battled for 30 minutes to cut her from her car. Acting Senior Sergeant Brock Davis of Invercargill, said emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at the crossroads of Motorimu Rd and State Highway I shortly before 5:00 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Davis said a Mitsubishi car driven by a 30-year-old man traveling north on the highway and the woman’s southbound(南行的)Suzuki Alto collided(碰撞). The man suffered slight injuries in the crash, he said. Invercargill Passenger Transport Ltd driver Bill McDermott and his passengers—New Zealand Aluminum Smelters Ltd workers were first on the scene and alerted emergency services. The scene at the spot was disordered, Mr. McDermott said. “There was a car on its side and a guy wandering around who was quite excited,” he said. “We stopped, got out and found a lady trapped in her car… then we noticed flames in the engine bay and the smell of petrol.” Mr. McDermott took a fire extinguisher(灭火器)from the bus, doused(泼洒)the flames, and several other workers controlled traffic. However, he said his actions were “no big deal”. He was not willing to take any credit for helping the woman. “The praise goes to all the guys that jumped off that bus.” Invercargill Senior Station officer Alan Goldsworthy, who was an officer in charge at the scene, said there was a possibility the car could have burst into flames if Mr. McDermott and the smelter workers had not helped. “They should acquire a good pat on the back.” he said. 68. Lots of people aren’t satisfied with their present weight, but most people aren’t sure how to change it. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines or on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you. 71 So what should you do about your weight control? 72 The best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight or if you need to lose or gain weight is to talk to a doctor or dietitian (营养学家). 73 If it turns out that you can benefit from weight loss then you can follow a few of the simple suggestions listed below to get started. 74 People who lose weight quickly by crash dieting or other extreme measures usually gain back all of the pounds they lost, because they haven’t permanently (永久地) changed their habits. Therefore, the best weight management ways are those that you can maintain for a life-time. Small changes are a lot easier to stick with (坚持做) than large ones. Try reducing the size of what you eat. 75 Once you have that down, start gradually introducing healthier foods and exercise into your life. It’s a good idea to maintain a healthy weight because it’s just that: healthy. Try giving up regular soda for a week. Try to pay attention as you eat and stop when you’re full. Weight management is about long-term success. Besides, no magical diet will make you look like someone else. Being healthy is really about being at a weight that is right for you. Changing from whole to nonfat or low-fat milk is also a good idea. They will compare your weight with healthy standards and help you set goals. A pretty, well-dress young lady stopped a taxi in a big square, and said to a driver, “Do you see that young man at the another side of the square?” “Yes,” said the taxi driver. There was a lot of cars and buses in the square, so the taxi driver asked, “Are you afraid to across the street?” “Oh, no!” said the young lady. “But I promised because I would meet her for lunch at one o’ clock, but it is now a quarter to two. If I arrive in a taxi, it will at least seem that I have tried to be late.” My opinion on copying others’ homework为题谈谈你自己的看法。 100-----120。 My opinion on copying others’ homework It is known to us all that some students copy others’ homework. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 玉溪二中2011-2012学年下学期期末质量检测 高二英语参考答案及评分参考 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 1-5 ACABC 6-10 ACBAB 11-15 ACABC 16-20BBACC 第二部分:英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分) 第一节 单项填空 (共15小题; 每小题1分, 满分15分) 21-25 BCBAD	26-30 CADDB	31-35 BADAC 第二节 完形填空 (共 20 小题; 每小题 1.5 分, 满分 30 分) 36-40 CABDA 41-45 BCADB 46-50 ACDAC 51-55 BDABC 36. stay up表“熬夜”。 37. 此处与上文的“…with a boyish smile…” 44. that he taught with是定语从句,修饰先行词the enthusiasm and joy。 50. One possible version: My opinion on copying others’ homework It is known to us all that some students copy others’ homework. As students, we have to do plenty of homework both at home and at school, but sometimes we have some homework which is too difficult for us. On the other hand, some students are lazy, and are not interested in their lessons. They don’t work hard. In order to finish the assignments and please their teachers, some students copy others’ homework. In my opinion, it is wrong to copy others’ homework because it breaks the school rules. Students should be honest and try to finish our homework by ourselves instead of by copying. Even though we have trouble doing our homework we can ask our classmates or teachers for help. ·14·
