A. looking for a hotel B. doing eye exercises C. eating fast food D. taking a taxi C Hunting The days of the hunter are almost over in India. This is partly because there is practically nothing left to kill, and partly because some steps have been taken, mainly by banning tiger-shooting, to protect those animals which still survive. Some people say that Man is naturally a hunter. I disagree with this view. Surely out earliest forefathers, who at first possessed no weapons, spent their time digging for roots, and were no doubt themselves often hunted by meat-eating animals. I believe the main reason why the modern hunter kills is that he thinks people will admire his courage in overpowering dangerous animals. Of course, there are some who truly believe that the killing is not really the important thing, and that the chief pleasure lies in the joy of the hunt and the beauties of the wild countryside. There are also those for whom hunting in fact offers a chance to prove themselves and risk death by design; these men go out after dangerous animals like tigers, even if they say they only do it to rid the countryside of a threat. I can respect reasons like these, but they are clearly different from the need to strengthen your high opinion of yourself. The greatest big-game hunters expressed in their writings something of these finer motives(动机).One of them wrote. “You must properly respect what you are after and shoot it cleanly and on the animal’s own territory(领地)。You must fix forever in your mind all the wonders of that particular day. This is better than letting him grow a few years older to be attacked and wounded by his own son and eventually eaten, half alive, by other animals, Hunting is not a cruel and senseless killing – not if you respect the thing you kill, not if you kill to enrich your memories, not if you kill to feed your people.” I can understand such beliefs, and can compare these hunters with those who hunted lions with spears(矛) and bravely caught them by the tail. But this is very different from many tiger—shoots I have seen, in which modern weapons were used. The so—called hunters fired from tall trees or from the backs of trained elephants. Such methods made tigers seem no more dangerous than rabbits. 65. There is no more hunting in India now partly because___. A. it is dangerous to hunt there B. hunting is already out of date C. hunters want to protect animals D. there are few animals left to hunt 66. The author thinks modern hunters kill mainly____. A. to make the countryside safe B. to earn people’s admiration C. to gain power and influence D. to improve their health 67. What do we learn about the big-game hunters? A. They hunt old animals B. They mistreat animals C. They hunt for food D. They hunt for money 68. What is the author’s view on the tiger-shoots he has seen? A. Modern hunters lack the courage to hunt face-to-face B. Modern hunters should use more advanced weapons C. Modern hunters like to hunt rabbits instead of tigers D. Modern hunters should put their safety first D This story took place a long time ago. But it has been repeated time and time again. Everyone is moved by the true story. An old man was knocked down by a car and was taken to hospital. He was badly hurt, and during his few returns to consciousness(知觉), he repeatedly called for his son. None knew where his son was. A dirty letter was found in his pockets. The nurse learned that his son was a soldier in North Carolina. The hospital called the Red Cross office to find the young man. The young soldier was rushed to the airport in time to catch the plane. It was evening when the young soldier walked into the hospital. A nurse took him to the bedsides of the old man. “Your son is here,” she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the old man’s eyes opened. He dimly saw the young man and got great comfort. He reached out his hand. The soldier held the old man’s hand and offered words of hope. All through the night the young soldier sat beside the bed. The nurse offered to watch instead of him for a while, he refused. At dawn the old man died. The nurse started to comfort him but the soldier asked her, “Who was that old man? “He was your father,” she answered. “No, he wasn’t. I never saw him before. I knew right away there was a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. I realized I was needed. So I stayed.” 69.What is true about the old man? A. He was seriously injured and would die soon. B. He knew quite well what had happened to him. C. He once and again wanted to call his son. D. He was knocked dead near a hospital. 70.When the old man and the young man met, . A. The old man wished the young man good luck in the future. B. The young man said something to comfort the old man. C. The doctors and nurses felt it hopeful to save the old man. D. They both recognized each other at once. 71.We know from this passage . A. the Red Cross is something for people to find persons. The young man might have the same name as the old man’s son. E Sometimes children do not do what their parents tell them to do. When this happens, a parent tries to help the child to do the right thing. When this does not work, the parent usually punishes the child. There are many things that a parent can do. One thing that people have done is to spank (打屁股) the child. When a parent spanks a child, they will use their hand or a hard object to strike them on their bottom. This is meant to show the child that they have done something wrong. One parent remembers being spanked when he was a child. His parents used a wooden spoon. When he spanked his own children with his hand, he saw that he put a red mark on his child’s leg. He never did that again. One problem with spanking is that it teaches the child to hit someone when they do not like what the other person is doing. Another problem with spanking is that the parent is usually angry and can hit the child too hard. Sometimes parents will use spanking for everything and not try other ways to get the child to do the right thing. Many parents are not sure of what to do instead of spanking. Some people think that their religion tells them that spanking is okay. Some think that the law lets them do it. The courts (法院) say that parents have the right to teach their children how to behave. Other things should be tried before a parent decides to spank a child. Telling the child exactly what is wanted from them can be one thing. Giving a child more than one choice is another thing that can be tried. Getting down to the child’s level and taking a more child-friendly approach (方法) can help as well. 72. According to the passage, when children do something wrong, one thing that parents usually do to punish them is to ________. A. strike them on the bottom B. try to help them do the right thing C. teach them what to do D. take them to court 73. Which of the following is NOT the problem caused by spanking? A. It teaches the child to hit others when they offend(使人不快) him or her. B. The parent may get angry and hit the child too hard. C. Sometimes parents may use spanking for everything. D. It makes parents try other ways to make the child do right. 74. Which of the following can best describe the writer’s attitude towards spanking? A. favorable (赞同的)	B. indifferent (不关心)	C. interested	D. unfavorable 75. From this passage, we can conclude that ________. A. Good children always do the right thing. B. Parents should try their best to avoid (避免) spanking their children. C. Parents have no choice but to spank their children when they do something wrong. D. Children can have more than one choice to avoid being spanked. 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分35分) 第一节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) [1]New rules and behavior standards(行为规范) for middle school students came out in March.
